The pre-project, Culture- and nature- based tourism: Sustainable visitor experiences at the intersection, aims at testing methods for improving and developing visitor experiences in the intersection of culture and nature in Kaupanger located in the municipality of Sogndal. Cultural tourism is today a national goal as Norway has proclaimed to become a cultural destination in 2030, and new knowledge about cultural tourists' experiences is needed. Cultural tourism can potentially be based on shmt-hauled tourists and thereby contribute largely to reduce emissions from transport.
