The County Governor could generally do more to follow up and ensure that preventive work is carried out in the wake of extreme weather events, as shown by a study of the Norwegian County Governors' departments of civil protection and emergency planning.

Vestlandsforsking recently presented research results on consumption and Norwegian environmental policy at an international conference on ecological footprinting in Italy.

The International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics (WIMS'11) will be organised under the auspices of Vestlandsforsking in May 25 - 27, 2011. The conference will provide an excellent international forum for sharing knowledge and results in theory, methodology and applications of Web intelligence, Web mining and Web semantics.
