Ecological footprint conference in Italy

Vestlandsforsking recently presented research results on consumption and Norwegian environmental policy at an international conference on ecological footprinting in Italy.

The results presented by Idun A. Husabø, derive from a study carried out by Vestlandsforsking for the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Children and Equality in 2008. The focus of the presentation was how the environmental strain associated with Norwegian consumption and production has developed since the mid-80s. In comparing the development, the calculation method ecological footprint was used. The conference at which the paper was presented, Footprint Forum 2010 (this year in Colle di Val d'Elsa close to Siena), gathered researchers from across the world whose work is somehow related to sustainable development and the ecological footprint method. The title of the paper written by Idun A. Husabø and Carlo Aall was "Using ecological footprint to illustrate the inadequacy of eco-efficiency as a strategy for achieving a sustainable development: the Norwegian case".
