Holiday homes as growth momentum in mountain areas

The main question in the study is whether businesses and municipalities can create local added value by utilizing growth impulse from the second home market. The project shall map and analyze:

  • To what extent second homes, second home number and increase in number are significant for different sectors and markets like trade, construction, activities, over night stays and housing market and labour
  • Local value chains in construction, maintenance and operation of second homes
  • Developlemnt of new local business and industries linked to second home owners demand for goods and services in related industries like local foods, culture, specialized local products and so on
  • How vulnerable second homes are for future climate change and climate policy
